Uttrakhand Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to the governor, Tirath Singh Rawat will take oath today
The political drama that has been going on for the last 3-4 days in Uttarakhand came to an end on Wednesday. Tirath Singh Rawat, Member of Parliament from Pauri Lok Sabha and Provincial Campaigner of RSS, was elected as the new Chief Minister of the state. His name was stamped at the party Legislature Party meeting held in Dehradun. Trivendra Singh Rawat, who resigned from the post of Chief Minister a day ago, proposed the name of Tirath Singh in the meeting. Later he also announced the name of Tirath. Tirath will take oath as Chief Minister at 4 pm.

After being elected as the leader of the legislative party, Tirath Singh Rawat said that I would like to thank the central leadership, who has given me this responsibility. I am a small worker from the village. I never imagined it. I will try my best to live up to the public's trust. Till now, we will carry forward the work that the Chief Minister has done for the state.

He said that he used to work for the union. Never thought of coming into politics. Later he moved forward, taking inspiration from Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that he has been working with Trivendra Singh Rawat for a long time, first worked as a pracharak in the Sangh and after that, he has worked together at the level of the party and the government. They will continue to work under his guidance.
Who is Tirath Singh?
Tirath Singh Rawat has been the Chief of the Uttarakhand BJP from 9 February 2013 to 31 December 2015. Before this, there were victories in the Chaubatkhal Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Currently, he is the National Secretary of the BJP. He was born in the Pauri Garhwal district. Before this, he was also the Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He was also an MLA from UP in 1997. He has been the first Education Minister of Uttarakhand. Currently, he is an MP from the Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat.
Rawat said - I have been CM for 4 years, now someone else gets a chance
Rawat had a press conference after resigning. He had said that the BJP gave such a huge honour to the worker of a small village. 4 years allowed me to serve. The party has collectively decided that I should now give this opportunity to someone else.
Congress bid - Government was not working Former state chief minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat targeted the BJP government. He said that the central leadership of the BJP has also accepted that the current government has not been able to do anything. Now I am seeing a change in the power of the state. No matter who they bring now. BJP will not return to power in 2022.
Party MLAs opposed Rawat
The angry faction of the party said that if Trivendra Singh Rawat is the Chief Minister, then the party may have to suffer a huge loss in next year's assembly elections. Even the party may be out of power. Party observers went to Dehradun on 6 February to talk to the party MLAs. On February 7, both returned to Delhi and submitted their report to the party president.
