Kumbh Mela is popular in Haridwar these days. Preparations for the second royal bath are going on in the akhadas of saints and saints. Ramta Jogi, Naga Sadhu from different corners of the country and saints associated with different creeds are excited about bathing in the Ganges. There is also a group of saints among them, in which most of them are graduates, have also been engineers or scientists or have come from institutions like IIT.

These saints are emphasizing the spiritual aspect of Ganga as well as its scientific aspect and have been struggling for many years in the fight to save Ganga. Even now, when all other saints and saints are preparing to bathe in Kumbh, these saints associated with the Mother House are on a fast unto death for Ganga and one of their saints, Brahmachari Atmabodhananda, has also given up water since 8 March

Brahmachari Atmabodhananda says, "We have been fighting for decades to save Ganga. Whether it is a fight to stop mining in the Ganges or to dam the Ganges from place to place, we have opposed it with scientific arguments. Many of our saints have also sacrificed for this. We cannot let their sacrifice go in vain. We are taking their fight forward. '

Mother House was established in the year 1997 by Swami Shivanand Saraswati. Shivanand, once a professor of chemistry, states that it had two main objectives, 'liberation of the soul' and 'interest of the world.' He says that to achieve these objectives, the Mother House did not have a way of engaging in meditation or preaching the discourse. Chose rather decided to take direct iron from the land mafia and mining traders who ruined the Ganges, giving life to all.

The Mother House started a struggle in 1998 against mining in the Ganges. After several hunger strikes and fasts, the Mother House was banned for its first success and mining in the Kumbh region was completely banned, but two ascetics belonging to the Mother House lost their lives in this struggle. The Maternal House alleges that mining mafias have been behind the suspicious deaths of Swami Gokulananda Saraswati and Swami Nigamananda Saraswati.

Even after the death of these saints, the struggle of the Mother House did not weaken. As a result, the government had to ban mining in many places, the forest land which was shown in the revenue department was returned to the forest department, dozens of stone crushers were closed and many power projects were given to the government due to the movement of the Mother House Had to stop

When Narendra Modi's government was formed at the Center in 2014, the saints of the Mother House raised hopes that some work would be done for the betterment of the Ganges. Brahmachari Atmabodhananda says, "When Swami Sanand was fasting in 2013, BJP leaders were supporting him from Narendra Modi to Rajnath Singh. He had also tweeted that the demands of Swami Sanand were absolutely valid, but after changing the government, these people were engaged in the work of selling Ganga not only to save Ganga. '

Swami Sanand, who was an IIT professor and whose real name was GD Agarwal, started his fast once again in 2018 with the saints of the Mother House. He went on hunger strike for 110 days after which he died. Many other saints of the Mother House have been agitating since then for their demands.

One of the dams that Swami Sanand (Professor GD Agarwal) was seeking to ban," says Atmabodhananda, was one that got swept up in the Chamoli disaster last month. From this, it can be judged whether their demands were right or not. It is a privilege that this disaster did not come in the monsoon, otherwise it would not have known how big a loss it would have been. Governments should abandon their greed and beware of these warnings of nature. '

Away from the glare of the Kumbh, these saints of the Mother House believe that the importance of a spiritual fair like Kumbh is no longer the same. They say that earlier, where knowledgeable saints from across the country used to reach Kumbh and many people came to Kumbh to get their refuge, but now the festival has become more like a show where the noise of the band and DJ is alleged Mahamandaleshwar Apna- They show their power and people also reach more to see this spectacle.

These saints believe that if the Ganges is not saved, then how will the Kumbh happen and they are fighting the fight to save the Ganges. What are those demands about which the people of the Mother House are fasting and Atmabodhanand is ready to give up his life? When asked this question, he says, "We mainly have four demands -

1)- The under construction and proposed power projects in the Ganga and all its subsections (Alaknanda, Bhagirathi, Dhauli Ganga, Pinder, etc.) should be banned and the dams that are built should be tested by an autonomous body. If it is found in the test that these projects are not environmentally sound then they should be closed.

2)- A 'Ganga Bhakta Parishad' should be set up on Ganga. These councils should work free from any kind of government pressure. It should work devotedly for the Ganges and no minister or officer should have any influence in it. '

3)- In Haridwar, mining of any kind should be completely banned on the Ganges.

4)- A draft was prepared by Swami Sanand (Professor Aggarwal) for the Ganges. The government manipulated and changed this draft to another draft. We demand that the draft prepared by Swami Sanand be passed in Parliament. '

Mother House is on hunger strike these four demands and Brahmachari Atmabodhananda has been on hunger strike since last 23 February. In continuation of this hunger strike, they have also abandoned water since 8 March. He says, "Many of our saints have given up their lives even before." If this government asks for blood to save the Ganges, then we are ready for it too. '
