Kangana Ranaut still maintains the statement comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.  He said in an interview, "I was called Haramkhor. So I said it does not look like Mumbai, looks like PoK. Then they tried to exploit it. The crowd gathered and lynched me. I called PoK.  But I should have said Syria. "

 Targeting Rahul Gandhi

Kangana Ranaut in her statement targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.  Shee said, "When Rahul Gandhi says that India looks like Syria, no one lynches him, or goes to break his house, what is the problem of these people?"

 In June 2018, Rahul Gandhi had targeted PM Modi for the rape and violence of women in India and said that India has overtaken Afghanistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia in this matter.

Kangna gave a controversial statement 18 days ago

Kangana Ranaut, in one of her tweets on 3 September, compared Mumbai to PoK. She wrote, "Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has openly threatened me and told me not to come to Mumbai. Why does Mumbai look like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir."  Following this tweet, Kangana was criticized by many Bollywood celebs, even the Maharashtra wing of the BJP, which supported her, shied away from her statement.
