Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is once again seen embroiled in a legal dispute. Mumbai's Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday issued a bailable warrant against Kangana for defamation of lyricist Javed Akhtar. The court issued the warrant because Kangana is not attending the police station despite repeated calls.
The court has now given Kangana time till March 22 to appear before the police. During this time, if Kangana goes to the police station, the warrant will automatically be canceled. The next hearing of the case will be on 26 March. Meanwhile, Kangana lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui said that he would appeal against the warrant in the High Court.
Kangana did not appear in the police station, nor did she answer
Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against Kangana in November 2020. Her lawyer Jai Kumar Bhardwaj said that summons was issued by the Mumbai police last month to record Kangana's statement, but she was not produced and neither did any response come from her.
In this case, in December 2020, the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court had asked the Juhu police to investigate Javed Akhtar's complaint. After this, the police gave the report to the court on 1 February. It said that the allegations of the complainant (Javed Akhtar) needed further investigation.

Mumbai Crime Branch's Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) has sent summons to Hrithik Roshan in connection with an e-mail case related to Kangana Ranot. He will have to appear before the CIU on Saturday and record his statement. It is believed that CIU can also record Kangana's statement after taking Hrithik's statement. The 5-year-old case between Hrithik and Kangana was earlier being investigated by the cyber cell of the Mumbai Police. In December 2020 it was transferred to CIU.
