PM Modi niece seeks BJP ticket to contest local body poll in Gujarat
Sonal is the daughter of PM Modi's brother Prahlad, has sought the BJP ticket to contest from Bodakdev ward in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.Sonal Modi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s niece, who is set to make a political debut in the upcoming local body polls in Gujarat, has sought a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
The local body polls in the state are scheduled to be held in two phases later this month on February 21 and February 28. Elections to six municipal corporations will be held on February 21 and that for municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats on February28.Results will be announced on February 23 for the first phase and on March 2 for the second phase.
Besides Sonal, several close relatives of BJP leaders are also in the queue for a BJP ticket for the local body polls in the state.While the BJP is yet to finalise its list of candidates, party’s state president CR Paatil on Monday made it clear that relatives of party leaders will not get tickets in the local body polls.
Prime Minister Modi, who repeatedly attacked the Congress party for dynastic politics, has no relative in politics.
