Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta has questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's silence on Rahul Rajput's murder and demanded compensation for his family. Firebrand leader Kapil Mishra also demanded a fair investigation of the incident and Rs 1 crore compensation to the kin of deceased Rahul. The 18-year-old man was stabbed to death in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar allegedly by the family members of a Muslim woman as he was said to be in a relationship with, the police said.

Rahul Rajput was a student at Delhi University and he was a B. A second-year student, who also used to give English tuition to students. According to the victim's family, the 18-year-old had received a call regarding tuition and he was asked to meet someone at a narrow lane near his house. He was later beaten by the girl's brother along with 7-8 boys. Rajput was immediately rushed to BJRM hospital in an unconscious condition. However, the boy succumbed to his injuries during treatment. No visible injury was seen on the deceased's body. The incident happened on October 7. The police soon took five people, including three minors, into custody. While one of them is the woman's brother, others are said to be his relatives. They have been identified as Manwar Hussain, Mohammad Afroz, and Sarfaraz.

During the investigation, we found that the boy, who was a resident of Jahangirpuri, was friendly with a girl and her family was against it. Her brother and other family members thrashed the boy over this issue and he succumbed to injuries," senior police officer Vijayanta Arya told reporters.

Murder case registered; police appeal people not to give communal colour to the case

A case was registered under section 302 (murder) and 34 (Acts did by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code based on a statement of an uncle of the deceased, she said, adding that two men were arrested. The police have also deployed additional personnel to maintain peace in the area.

"We appeal to people to not give any colour to the case, it is a dispute of two families", DCP of North West Delhi said amid attempts to give the incident communal colours.

As per India Today they managed to speak to the sole witness in the Adarsh Nagar murder case where an 18-year-old boy was beaten to death. Family members of the deceased, Rahul Rajput, have told Delhi Police that he was assaulted allegedly over his friendship with a girl from the neighbourhood. The girl in question interacted with India Today on the condition of anonymity. She said, "It should not be the same condition as Hathras. I want a CBI inquiry. Rahul should get justice."Making a scathing allegation against the Delhi Police, the girl said, "Adarsh Nagar Police Station put pressure to change the statement. The son of a maternal uncle is the mastermind. I screamed many times for help but no one came forward."

During the course of the investigation, Delhi Police have combed through CCTV footage from the scene of the crime. The retrieved footage shows a boy wearing a pink colour shirt was Rahul. He can be seen with a girl who is the sole witness in the case. This is the same girl who Rahul befriended prior to his death. After watching the CCTV footage concerned, one can speculate that the accused asked the girl to call Rahul Rajput and started thrashing him not far from his home on Nanda Road in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area.

Mother of Rahul has alleged that the Delhi Police were unwilling to register a case at first. Officers said there were no visible injuries on his body, claimed the mother. In addition, Rahul Rajput's uncle claimed that the family did not know those who assaulted the boy on Wednesday. "One boy from the crowd was seen coming forward and saying that he is the one who assaulted him because he saw him speak to his sister," the uncle alleged.
