An encounter between security forces and Naxalites took place on Saturday in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. 5 soldiers have been martyred in this. These include 4 CRPF and one DRG jawan. 3 Maoists are also reported to have been killed, one of them is a woman. The encounter took place in the jungles of Tarrem police station area. 10 jawans of the security forces have also been injured in the encounter.
SP Kamal Lochan Kashyap has confirmed the encounter. The encounter took place in the village of Hidma, the mastermind of the Zhiram attack. The Naxalites who attacked were members of his team. For a long time there was a mobilization of Naxalites in the village. On hearing this, the soldiers had arrived.
Choppers sent to rescue forest
The encounter, which lasted for about four to five hours, ended by 5 pm. After this, extras are sent for backup. At the same time, helicopters were also sent to rescue the dead bodies and injured soldiers of the martyred soldiers. Official information about the encounter is expected by the evening. The post-mortem of the martyred soldiers will be on Sunday.
This is the second Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh within 10 days. Earlier on March 23, 5 soldiers were also killed in the attack. The attack was carried out by the Naxalites through the IED blast in Narayanpur. CRPF, DRG, District Police Force and Cobra Battalion personnel jointly went out searching from Tarrem police station. Meanwhile, Naxalites ambushed in the Silger forest in the afternoon. On this, retaliation was also done by the soldiers.
8 kg IED recovered for targeting jawans
On the other hand CRPF 85 battalion personnel recovered 8 kg IED explosive at Modipara near Cherpal in Gangalur area. The Naxalites planted it to target the jawans. The explosives have been recovered by the soldiers at around 7.30 am on Saturday morning. It was then blasted and destroyed.
On 23 March, Naxalites blasted in Narayanpur, 5 soldiers were martyred
On March 23, 10 days ago, Naxalites blasted a bus full of DRG personnel in Narayanpur district. 5 soldiers were killed in this attack, while 14 were injured. There were 24 jawans in the bus during the blast. The backup force was dispatched on the spot as soon as the information was received. All the soldiers were returning after being involved in an operation.
Attacks intensified after sending peace talks proposal
The Naxalites had proposed peace talks to the government on 17 March. The Naxalites had issued a release saying that they are ready to negotiate with the Chhattisgarh government for the betterment of the public. He also laid down three conditions for negotiation. These included the removal of the armed forces, the lifting of restrictions on Maoist organizations and the unconditional release of their jailed leaders.
